Academic Papers

This page offers a growing list of links to Academic Papers with a brief explanation of each. The author asks that these papers be used appropriately (i.e. give recognition of their source) and please offer feedback either privately or publically. Critiques and criticisms are most welcome. The subject of this blog dwarfs this author and any participants.

The Author of Jonah Got Things Right: This is a careful analysis of the composition of the Biblical Book of Jonah. It is no mere Sunday School Story. It is calculated, terrific writing. This author guarentees you will learn something if you wade through this paper.
Deconstruction Antiquated: Communication Theory is an arduous subject to tackle well. Old theories of the Code Method of communication have been found lacking. Relevance Theory covers the subject much better. This paper tackles two very abstract concepts that are important to a foundation of Communication Theory.

On The Surface of Discourse: This is a book review of a very fine book on the theory of communication. It is much easier reading than the paper on Reconstruction, but presents some sound principles of understanding the “what”s and “how”s of written communication.
